Vintage German Wooden Recorder Soprano C
Up for auction is this nice older wooden recorder in its original box. Included is the original information sheet with care instructions on one side and a fingering chart on the the opposite side. The sheet is a little tattered and worn and is in German. The original box is well-worn and taped at the ends. I think this is a soprano recorder in C tuning (C is marked on the body). It has an impressed two-word brand marking in semi-gothic lettering. I can't make out the first word; looks like it might be "Original" or "Ociginal." The second word is "Herwigalhor."
The finish is in good condition with some wear to the mouthpiece where the finish has worn off. There are no splits or cracks. This is a two piece instrument. The head and body mate properly with just the right amount of resistance; neither too lose nor too tight. It has seven fingering holes in the top and one on the underside.
I don't play recorder, but
even I was able to get a pleasant tone out of this.
